Feast of St. Joseph Calasanz
Catholic Education in Singapore aims to instil strong moral values and virtues in our students, guided by the Catholic Social Teaching principles of Respecting Human Dignity and Serving the Common Good. With a firm belief that each of us is made in the image and likeness of God and called to use our gifts for the service of humanity, ACCS sees Catholic Education as the responsibility of families, parishes and schools.
Parents are their children’s first educators. The family plays an important part in forming the children in the faith. “The Holy See is, …, ever mindful of ensuring the appropriate involvement of parents in Catholic schools.” (J. Miller, Holy See’s Teaching on Catholic Schools, Pg. 30)
“Like a good Mother, the Church offers help to families by establishing Catholic schools that ensure the integral formation of their children. (J. Miller, Holy See’s Teaching on Catholic Schools, Pg. 30)
CES is thus an opportunity for home-parish-school collaboration as well as an annual reminder of why families, parishes and schools must collaborate in the integral formation of our children and youth.
CES was inaugurated in September 2017. Since then, students in their school uniforms, together with their parents and teachers, serve as lectors, cantors and hospitality ministers during the annual designated CES masses at various parishes.
CES 2024 will be celebrated on 25 August 2024, the feast day of St. Joseph Calasanz.
St. Joseph Calasanz worked hard to provide a free yet truly Catholic Education to poor boys of his time through the founding of the Pious Schools.
We ask St. Joseph Calasanz to intercede for us that our Catholic schools may "develop an understanding of all that is true, good and beautiful."(Pope Francis, 2017)
As a spiritual preparation for CES and Pope Francis’ visit to Singapore in September 11th to 13th, we encourage all school students to participate in the Pope Francis Art and Video Competitions.

“Catholic education is not about knowing things or taking lessons but about being able to use 3 lingos: the head, the heart and the hands.” Pope Francis
As one Church, we thank God for the gift of Catholic Education through which knowledge moves hearts to compassion and inspires hands to serve with love.
It takes a village to raise a child in the way of the Lord. Parents, Catholic educators, leaders and stewards of Catholic schools and parishes, let us work together in building God’s kingdom, to sow and nurture the seeds of love to form children after the heart of God for generations to come.
