On September 12, 2024, Singapore witnessed a historical event—His Holiness Pope Francis celebrated a Papal Mass in our own Singapore Stadium. Amidst the grandeur of the occasion, a remarkable ensemble took center stage: students from various Catholic schools formed the band and part of the choir, their voices and instruments lending joy to the occasion.
These young musicians and choristers worked tirelessly, even during their school holidays, to perfect their performance. When the moment arrived, their final performance resonated with grace and reverence—a commendable tribute to faith and unity.
But it wasn’t just these students’ musical talents that shone. All Catholic schools in Singapore sent contingents of students to attend the mass. These bright young people, dressed in their uniforms, stood as a testament to the vibrant spirit of our Catholic community. Their presence, their reverence, and their unwavering commitment did us proud.
In that sacred space, these young hearts carried the hopes and prayers of generations. They reminded us that faith transcends age, and that when we come together, we create a harmonious symphony of love and devotion.
Pope Francis Engages in Interreligious Dialogue with Singaporean Students
During his visit to Singapore, Pope Francis participated in an interreligious dialogue hosted in Catholic Junior College. The event brought together leaders and representatives from various faith traditions, fostering conversations on peace, compassion, and shared values. The Pope’s presence served as a catalyst, encouraging all who were present, including our young students, to explore deeper questions about their beliefs and the world around them.
Pope Francis said to the young people “This is because your dialogue is one that creates a path, and that leads the way forward. If you dialogue as young people, you will also dialogue as adults; you will dialogue as citizens, and as politicians. “

Drawings submitted by students for an art competition decorated the walls of his dining room—a tapestry of welcome messages, visions of hope, and symbols of unity for the Church. These young artists, with their talent and imagination, remind us that art transcends language, connecting hearts across continents.
